How do I activate my student e-mail account? (first-time users)
Student accounts are activated at https://webmail.kctcs.edu . Click on the link “New Account Activation.” Type your last name in the box labeled last name, and type in your student ID number in the box labeled student ID #. Your student ID number is a nine digit number that is issued to you when you enroll for classes. It is NOT your social security number. Your student ID number can be found in your HCC acceptance package (first time students enrolled Fall 06 and later), on your schedule, your HCC student photo ID card, or other official documents from HCC. NOTE: In order to protect your privacy, HCC staff members cannot give out student ID numbers over the telephone.
After entering your last name and student ID number, click the button labeled Sign In. Write down your user name, domain, and e-mail address. After the activation process is complete, this information is not shown again. Next, you are asked to set a password. Passwords MUST be at least 8 characters long and contain an upper case character, a lower case character, and a number.
Passwords are case sensitive and must be typed in exactly as it was when it was set. Password examples include: Student1, Hopkinsville17, Tgif1650. Passwords cannot contain any part of your username.
After completing the above steps, a message will let you know if the password was set successfully. Click on the “ok” button to either attempt to set your password again (if an error occurred) or to log on to email if the password was successfully set. Upon a successful password set, you will be returned to the main menu screen. Scroll down and click on “Logon to E-mail.” Enter your user ID as it given to you in the activation process and the password you just set. Click OK.
How do I reset my password? I have forgotten it, my password has expired or it just doesn't work.
If you have trouble getting into your student e-mail account because of a forgotten, lost or non-working password, go through the activation process outlined above to reset your password.
